Marina Market x MTU Collaboration Brings Rebel Weekend to Life

The Marina Market recently partnered with students from Munster Technological University (MTU) to deliver an exciting and engaging live event, Rebel Weekend, a concept developed as part of a fourth-year marketing project.

As part of this collaboration, Marina Market challenged students to create and execute an original event idea. The winning concept, Rebel Weekend, was brought to life by students Mark Linehan, Eoin Nash, Brian Moore and Cillian Hickey, who successfully transformed their vision into a vibrant two-day experience.

The event kicked off on Saturday April 25th with a special preview night celebrating all things GAA. Attendees were treated to an evening of stories, insights and match build-up ahead of the highly anticipated Cork vs Limerick Munster Hurling Championship match. The panel featured some of the sport’s most recognisable names, including Thomas Mulcahy, Seán Óg Ó hAilpín, Seanie McGrath, Declan Hannon and Pat Ryan.

On Sunday, the space was transformed into a lively family-friendly fan zone. Visitors enjoyed games, face painting and a live screening of the match, creating a fantastic atmosphere for supporters of all ages.

Seeing students take an idea from concept to execution is one of the most rewarding aspects of the annual live case collaboration between Marina Market and MTU. Rebel Weekend is a strong example of the creativity, teamwork and professionalism that this partnership continues to foster.
